Pre-K
King/Robinson Early ChildhoodMission StatementKing/Robinson Early Childhood Preschool offers a positive, caring environment that respects all children and the families we serve. We strive for students to engage in activities that are challenging and open their minds. Our program is designed to help children develop socially, cognitively, physically, and emotionally in a nurturing and safe environment. This program encourages children to inquire, explore, and reflect on their learning. We Offer:
Each Pre-K class has a daily schedule of activities so that children become familiar and secure with a routine. Flexibility is built in to accommodate children’s interests and choices. The day includes whole-group, small-group, individual instruction, free play, rest time, outdoor play, breakfast, lunch, and snack time. Whole group and small group activities include Shared Reading and Math instruction. Enrichment activities include Music and movement, Art, World Language (French Instruction), and Physical Education. Students are also involved in writing, math, science, and social studies instruction that is woven throughout the day through play. For centers, students participate in dramatic play, blocks, sensory bins, library, arts and crafts, and more. Our schedule allows for teacher-directed and child-initiated activities. Children are also exposed to social and emotional learning opportunities which help them manage their feelings, and emotions and make developmentally appropriate choices throughout the day. Outside time is an extension of our indoor program and occurs each day weather permitting. The outdoor equipment provides challenges through which children may develop confidence and body awareness. There is a daily rest/nap period of 1-1 ½ hours. |
